The Vienna Charter - Shaping the future together

Viennese citizens of different cultural and ethnic backgrounds came together over the past months to draft the “Wiener Charter”, a document that lays down guidelines for making the city a better and more friendly place.

Based on input from 8,500 participants and 47,000 online contributions, the Charter aims to “focus on common humanity”, and provides guidelines regarding everything from common courtesies, respecting public space, to being accommodating to elderly and young people.

The document also stresses the importance of being open to other cultures and that all Viennese can avail of the benefits that accompany being open to other cultures and people.

Finally, it concludes by calling on Viennese to take care of their city and encourages them to keep their city clean.
