For her next thematic report to the UN Human Rights Council’s 37th session, the Special Rapporteur on adequate housing, Leilani Farha, intends to focus on how national and local governments can design and implement effective human rights-based housing strategies to realize the right to housing and to fulfil commitments made in the framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the New Urban Agenda (Habitat III).
The Special Rapporteur is requesting contributions to all interested institutions, reflecting on their experiences with human rights-based housing strategies and offering suggestions for effective and innovative actions in the field of housing.
The UCLG Committee on Social Inclusion, Participatory Democracy and Human Rights is launching a call for contributions to all its members in order to bring the voice and experience of local governments to this report by highlighting specific examples of housing policies based on human rights.
In order to take part of this call you have two different options:
- Answer to some or all of this form’s questions.
- Send a brief text to the Committee’s Secretariat ([email protected]) of around 600-800 words highlighting specific actions, plans and strategies implemented by your local or regional government, aimed at respecting, protecting and implementing the right to housing.
In order to be able to coordinate local governments’ contribution to this report, we kindly ask you to answer to this call before 24 October.
