Logo CGLU
Deadline: 1 March 2011

After six years of consolidation as the united voice of local and regional authorities worldwide, UCLG is looking for a new Secretary General to drive it into a new phase. One of UCLG´s main objectives is to ensure that the interests of local governments, and of the citizens they represent, are fully taken into account in the global governance. It is essential to our work to have a dynamic and proactive team that pursues an ambitious programme on behalf of our members.

Our World Secretariat, based in Barcelona comprises a team of around 20 posts and has undergone an expansion process during its 6 first years of existence. We are looking for a motivated candidate willing to take the challenge to lead the UCLG team in implementing the priorities identified by the members and to facilitate the strategic visioning process that the Governing Bodies of UCLG have recommended.

UCLG is a dynamic multicultural organization that must remain adaptable and able to respond to new priorities emerging from our membership and from the international policy development. We are therefore looking for candidates with a clear interest in current global issues, in the international institutions and decision-making process.

In addition we are looking for strong management skills put to the service of an articulate multicultural team. Political and cultural sensitivity are therefore a must as well as the ability to promote consensus, to motivate a team and to achieve results. Analytical and language skills will also be a prerequisite. Applicants must be eligible to work in Spain and have submitted their application form by 1 March.

Further information about UCLG and our work can be found in our website at www.cities-localgovernments.org.
