We are pleased to announce you that the 8th edition of the World Human Rights Cities Forum (WHRCF) will take place next 18-21 October in Gwangju (South Korea).
The Forum is held under the initiative and support of the Metropolitan Government of Gwangju, as a way to provide a bridge between meaningful experiences from the four corners of the earth on human rights promotion at the local level. It is co-organized by our Committee and the Gwangju International Centre (GIC).
In 2018, the Forum will focus on exploring the links between diversity, inclusiveness and peace, trying to answer the question “Whom do we live with?”. It will therefore provide a paramount space for deepening the debate on the role of local governments in the global governance of migrations, as well to strengthen the place of human rights universality accordingly (UCLG’s wave of action #Cities4Migration).
In the case that your local government is carrying out rights-based strategies in regards to migration or diversity, we strongly suggest you to share your initiatives with us. We will equally contact you with more information on how to participate in the Forum.

The WHRCF will be a great occasion to debate with other local representatives, present and raise international awareness on the initiatives in defence of human rights that your municipality is carrying out locally, as well as to establish municipalist alliances with like-minded local governments.
The working language of the event will be Korean and English. Simultaneous translation will be provided throughout the sessions. More information is provided in the concept note and Forum overview attached to this document.
Do not hesitate to contact with the Committee for further questions or doubts.
