The Committee´s first meeting in 2011 took place between 5 pm and 7 pm on 10 February at the Hotel des Almadies in Dakar. The session had a single theme and focused on presenting the results of the work done by the International Observatory on Local Social Inclusion Policies.
Two research studies were carried out by the Observatory in 2010. The first, a theoretical study, analysed the links between the quality of social inclusion policies and their design by means of participatory processes. The study was carried out by the Barcelona Institute of Government and Public Policy (IGOP) at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
The second research study was directed by Prof. Boaventura de Sousa Santos (Social Studies Centre - University of Coimbra) and undertaken by a multidisciplinary team. It consisted of the international search for benchmark social inclusion policies that can inspire other cities.
The reports are currently being translated and will shortly be available on the Committee´s website.
