VISION AS HUMAN RIGHTS CITY / TERRITORY

Just like the culture of peace, the territorial level is rooted in a close relationship with the citizens and residents, fostering the appropriation of public policies by the greatest number. It is therefore a space for experimentation that allows the demonstration of the effectiveness of respecting human rights and for innovation in developing new shared tools with residents and engaged actors, including associations and the social and solidarity economy. Human rights, due to their generic and universal nature, encompass a dimension of justice and equality that aligns with the orientations of the municipality and permeates all areas of local action.

MOTIVATIONS TO JOIN THE CAMPAIGN

To contribute to expanding the campaign to mobilize local governments and thus foster a scaling up to enhance the dissemination of human rights across all territories.

HUMAN RIGHTS LOCAL POLICIES, MECHANISMS AND PROGRAMS

  1. Establishment within our Municipal Health Center of a CPEF (family planning and education center) where we have developed surgical abortion services, in addition to medical abortion.

  2. Work with leisure centers and schools around the International Children's Rights Day (Malakoff has held the UNICEF “Child-Friendly City” label since 2008), resulting in exhibitions of artworks created by children.

  3. Hosting of a troupe of Afghan artists since 2021, in partnership with Théâtre 71 – National Stage, with the municipality providing free housing to support their integration and continued creative work.
