Local governments are essential to promote, fulfill and respect Human Rights, because they are in direct and permanent contact with the communities and create policies and programmes that most impact people's lives.
As a local government, Boane municipality maintains infrastructure development and regulates municipal services, protection of the environment and upholds citizen rights. It also takes responsibility for recreation services, parks, public transportation, sanitary services and urbanization services.
What motivates us to join the human rights campaign is the fact that our municipality faces challenges in certain areas where human rights are at risk. The Municipal Council of Vila de Boane is committed to creating programs that promote awareness and discussion of these issues across different neighborhoods. As an institution, we collaborate with various local associations that work on human rights within communities. This motivates us to embrace the campaign, helping us expand our reach to more neighborhoods and individuals.
