As announced in the previous newsletter, on June 30th the first meeting of the CSIPD Coordinating Group was held in Barcelona. The structure of this group was formally established at the 2nd Bi-annual CSIPD meeting in 2008 (Istanbul) in order to strengthen and broaden the political leadership of the Committee. This meeting gave a follow-up to the different initiatives promoted by the Committee as planned in its 2008 - 2010 Work Plan; it launched some strategic lines for the future; and tacked the agenda of international activities. The Committee´s Working Group is made up of the Chair (Barcelona), the vice-chairs (Saint-Denis, the Province of Milan, and Ecatepec), Nantes - Pays de la Loire Region (as coordinators of the working group on "Human Rights and Local Governments"), the FAL (represented by the Malaga Provincial Council, FAMSI and Nanterre - FALP), the municipality of Cordoba (Spain) and the Committee´s Secretariat.
