At the 9th FAL, and under the coordination of Nanterre (France), the World Forum of Peripheral Local Authorities (FALP) is organising a working session with peripheral African towns which will take place on 7 February in the Senegalese city of Pikine.
The debate will focus on how to strengthen the role of peripheral cities, especially those in Africa, within their respective countries and within the structure of international governance. Various debates will also cover how large suburban cities deal with environmental and social problems, and how solidarity-based cooperation between cities is contributing to enhancing their institutional capacity. Various cities from the host country, and from Brazil, France, Mexico, Portugal and Spain, have confirmed their participation at the seminar.
